Transatlantic flight of the Lithuanica II 40 centu carmine and blue on numbered cover (555) from Brooklyn, New York to Kaunas, carried by Lieutenant Felix Vaitkus during his attempt to cross the Atlantic Ocean on September 21st, 1935, very fine with autograph of the aviator. Vaitkus was forced to change his original plan to reach Lithuania in one run due to bad weather conditions. He had to make a forced landing in Ireland thereby damaging the plane severely. The remnants of the Lithuanica were crated and sent by ship to Lithuania where Vaitkus and the wreckage received a hero's welcome.
